Make the most of the autumn sunshine on a cider cycling break in Herefordshire!
Drover Holidays' 2-day tour takes you from the cathedral city of Hereford to the picturesque heart of cider-making country. The rolling Welsh borderlands make for easy cycling, and the ride is predominantly along quiet back roads, making it ideal for families. Pedal past orchards, stop for a rest at a cider mill, and sample some perry beside the fireside in the evenings.
There are no fixed departure dates for this tour, so you can enjoy a mid-week break or an active weekend. The dates are up to you, but you might like to time your tour to coincide with one of the following cider-related events!
- The Big Apple, 11-12 October 2008 - unique events in the village of Much Marcle. Watch the cidermaking, see cider fruit displays, walk in orchards, and even eat cider cake! More information on www.bigapple.org.uk.
- Cider Making Festival, 18-19 October 2008, Hereford Cider Museum. Celebrate the cider harvest with demonstrations of traditional cidermaking, Herefordshire beekeepers honey competition, coopering and rural crafts. See www.cidermuseum.co.uk
- Flavours of Herefordshire Food Festival, 25-26 October 2008, Hereford Racecourse. A showcase of the region's outstanding food and drink. 140 local producers, including Tyrrells who are highlighting their latest product ‘Herefordshire Vodka'. The Hairy Bikers will be touring the Festival on both days and putting the local ingredients, including vintage apples and vodka, to the test in the Food Theatre.. There is still plenty of interest on this tour, even if you choose not to coincide your visit with a cider-related event.
