Walking in Wales independently gives you the freedom to really take things at your own pace and enjoy the solitude of the hills.

So if you're confident about finding your own way - with our detailed route notes and maps - a Drover Holidays self-guided walking tour is an ideal choice. We transfer your luggage, so you'll have plenty of breath left to enjoy the views. There are no set departure dates, just choose the day of the week on which you would like to begin your adventure.

Well-marked paths and cinder tracks take you through the central Brecon Beacons and then south via the Taff Valley. The route takes in historic industrial towns, fine viaducts and a number of castles, while using green corridors to separate the walker from modern industry. The River Usk is never far away as you walk in a northwesterly direction on well-defined footpaths, visiting the towns of Usk, Abergavenny and Crickhowell en-route. The path leads steeply out of the Wye Valley to the exhilarating Gospel Pass, and then on more level ground to your first night's rest at Capel Y Ffin. Spend the next morning exploring the 12th century remains of Llanthony Abbey, then continue to Longtown for the second night. An introduction to Offa's Dyke Enjoy what many consider the best part of the entire Offa's Dyke path (but avoid the blisters that accompany the full 177 miles) by opting for this two day taster. From Hay on Wye you head north through outstanding scenery to the small town of Kington. After an overnight stop, the trail leads through woods, heathland and open country ideal for wildlife watching. The route never strays far from the river, with it's salmon pools and historic bridges. Enjoy some excellent bird watching along this stretch of water, before arriving in the book town of Hay on Wye.
